Poetry can be great fun, especially if it's a concrete poem. They take the shape of the object that it represents. Since 5th grade is about to wrap up a unit in pronouns, they created some fantastic concrete poems using it. Here are some below: HW:
8 - Vocab Unit 8 Definitions/Passage; Mini Experts Research due Wed.; Field trip form due Wed. 7 - Pg. 185 Practice A; Read Ch. 2 (up to Pg. 31) & 3 Annotations 6 - Eng Test Thurs; "Good Morning Opponents" Test tomorrow; "Good Morning Opponents" Picture Paragraph (via Edmodo on Google Draw) 5 - Finish Pronoun Concrete Poem; Test moved to 1/21 (Color, Use 5 pronouns, Shape of poem) Reminders: -Tonight is PTO Meeting @6:30 PM -Friday is a half day w/ noon dismissal God bless, Mrs. Reyes An iamb is when 2 syllables are put together - one unstressed & the other stressed. When Shakespeare didn't have one that conveyed what he was trying to say, he made it up. There are thousands of words that are in our everyday vocabulary because of him. 8th grade created their own and we are putting together our very own dictionary.

8th grade is working on the life and times of Shakespeare. Part of that is learning about the ins and outs of Elizabethan Theatre.
Fun fact for the day: the Globe Theatre in London is not the original. It was actually burned down twice & is the 3rd rebuilt.
